Pay Range: $33.48- $40.99/hour

Job Description

We have an opening for a Clinical Medical Assistant in the Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) Directorate, supporting the Health Services Department (HSD). You will implement and provide support to the overall function of the clinic, prepare patients for physical examination, perform vital signs and other medical testing. This role will provide fit testing for hearing protection for the Hearing Conservation Program enrollees; and will interact with patients and multidisciplinary health professionals.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will

  • Prepare patients and exam/treatment areas; calibrate equipment, perform basic maintenance, and ensure supplies/readiness..
  • Measure and document height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and body composition.
  • Perform and accurately document spirometry, audiometry, vision screening, and electrocardiogram tests. Perform fit testing for hearing protection.
  • Perform medical assistance services in Treatment Area (blood pressure checks, parking passes, etc.).
  • Prioritize and triage patients; recognize acute medical needs and occupational injuries; escalate per Laboratory protocols.
  • Provide front desk medical receptionist coverage, manage phones and e-mail, prepare patient medical records, receive and direct patients, monitor wait times, and resolve workflow issues while safeguarding privacy while maintaining a high level of positive customer service at all times.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient care in HSD's scheduling system. This includes, but is not limited to, the treatment area, physical therapy, ergo, EAP, Vision Services, and physical exam visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Certified by an Accredited Medical Assistant program and possess or be eligible for the Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Clinical experience in an occupational health, emergency room or urgent care; sound judgement for walk-ins and injury triage within policy.
  • Proven accuracy with vital-signs and body-composition measurements; precise EHR documentation.
  • Proficient with phlebotomy and injections.
  • Professional reception skills (phones + e-mail), records preparation, identity verification/consents; strict confidentiality at the front desk. Strong customer service and the ability to interact effectively with patients and multidisciplinary health professions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment and ability to set and rearrange priorities on short notice including adjusting work schedule to accommodate patient flow/departmental demands as necessary.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new software and applications quickly. Experience maintaining a complex and confidential system of electronic records.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Certified Phlebotomist or the ability to acquire Phlebotomist Certification within a reasonable time.
  • COHC - Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist.
  • NIOSH Spirometry Training.
  • Experience with WebChart and/or other ambulatory Electronic Health Records (EHRs).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level clearance.If you are selected, we will initiatea Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. L-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities requireseparate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.

A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.
