Allied Environmental Services is a subsidiary of CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) - an award-winning full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA and a rich history over our (98) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting and installation, and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Role will be based out of Lima, OH.
  • Most work is performed outdoors.
  • Identify, remove, pack, transport or dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil.
  • Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit are generally required.
  • Remove asbestos or lead from surfaces, using hand or power tools such as scrapers, vacuums, or high-pressure sprayers.
  • Identify asbestos, lead, or other hazardous materials to be removed, using monitoring devices.
  • Prepare hazardous material for removal or storage.
  • Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoists or forklifts.
  • Clean contaminated equipment or areas for re-use, using detergents or solvents, sandblasters, filter pumps, or steam cleaners.
  • Remove or limit contamination following emergencies involving hazardous substances.
  • Clean mold-contaminated sites by removing damaged porous materials or thoroughly cleaning all contaminated nonporous materials
  • Operate machines or equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.
  • Record numbers of containers stored at disposal sites, specifying amounts or types of equipment or waste disposed.
  • Sort specialized hazardous waste at landfills or disposal centers, following proper disposal procedures.
  • Drive trucks or other heavy equipment to convey contaminated waste to designated ground locations.
  • Identify or separate waste products or materials for recycling or reuse.
  • Process e-waste, such as computer components containing lead or mercury.
  • Organize or track the locations of hazardous items in landfills.
  • Comply with prescribed safety procedures, wear proper Personal Protective Equipment and federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
  • May be assigned to abatement or miscellaneous projects (with appropriate training).

Minimum Qualifications:

Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.

Education and/or Experience -

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from technical school; or ...
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training; or ...
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills -

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills -

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -

  • Any of the following are nice to have but are not required: Commercial Driver's License (A or B) with endorsements to drive vehicles, operate heavy equipment, as well as proficient use of a water blaster, and 40 hour HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) certificate, current Ohio EPA Abatement license.
