We are looking for a forward-thinking, results-driven Manager - AI and Automation to lead global initiatives that combine human-centered design with cutting-edge AI and automation.

As Manager of AI and Automation, you will be a key driver of our digital HR transformation agenda. You will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of AI-driven and automation solutions-spanning generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation. Working in a vendor-driven delivery model, you will collaborate with HR leaders, COEs, sector DHR teams, IT, and external partners to ensure scalable, compliant, and high-impact solutions. Your work will simplify processes, enhance decision-making, and elevate employee experience across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead global AI/automation initiatives from concept to deployment, owning end-to-end delivery in a vendor-partnered model.

  • Identify high-value use cases across the HR lifecycle (e.g., talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, learning, workforce analytics) where AI and automation can create measurable impact.

  • Partner with HR COEs, IT, and vendors to define requirements, evaluate technologies, and ensure successful implementations.

  • Build and maintain project roadmaps, timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring alignment with the global DHR strategy.

  • Apply agile and iterative delivery models, driving continuous improvement and scaling successful pilots into global rollouts.

  • Ensure ethical, secure, and compliant use of AI, embedding guardrails for data privacy, bias reduction, and regulatory compliance.

  • Champion adoption and change management, including stakeholder engagement, training, and capability-building.

  • Monitor outcomes and ROI, refining solutions to maximize efficiency, user experience, and business impact.

  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI, automation, and digital HR technologies, bringing thought leadership into the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in HR technology, AI/automation, or digital transformation roles in global or matrixed environments.

  • Proven track record leading AI/automation projects within HR or adjacent domains.

  • Strong understanding of HR platforms, with emphasis on Workday and ServiceNow.

  • Familiarity with leading AI platforms/tools (Microsoft Copilot, UiPath, Azure AI, Google Cloud AI, etc.).

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to translate complex technology into clear business value.

  • Strong problem-solving, vendor management, and program delivery skills.

  • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and driving digital change at scale.

For residents of California, New York, Washington, Ohio and Illinois as required under applicable pay transparency laws, the expected base salary for this position if filled remotely is $117,264 - $146,580. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America's variable pay program, subject to the program's conditions and restrictions.
