Department: 2nd Floor - Rehab Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192 Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation Shift:7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3x12 hour shifts) Are you passionate about patient care and looking to grow in a dynamic, supportive healthcare environment? As aNurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience. ABOUT OUR UNIT: Our 38-bed unit provides compassionate, patient-centered care with a strong focus on rehabilitation and recovery after significant illness, injury, or surgery. While we primarily serve a geriatric population, we also care for patients as young as 14, with no upper age limit. Our patients face a variety of medical conditions, including stroke (CVA), traumatic brain injury (TBI), hip fractures, craniotomy, cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), and amputations. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Your day-to-day impact includes:
- Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
- Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
- Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
- Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
- Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
- At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
