Overview:

The Sr E-Learning Instructional Designer utilizes current learning principles/concepts, instructional design theory and learning techniques to design, produce and facilitate custom learning and development e-learning materials to meet customers’ needs. This role acts as a learning consultant to understand the business' needs around learning and help connect learning strategies. Works closely with business owners and subject matter experts in the development process to ensure that the business needs and learning outcomes are met and achieve stated business success indicators. They develop learning and delivery strategies including e-learning modules, videos, learning activities, reference guides or job-aids as well as provide advice and consultation to other members of the design team and mentors other e- learning design team members as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a learning consultant to understand the business' needs around learning and to help connect learning strategies.


    • Designs and develops multimedia and eLearning training modules.
    • Conducts needs assessments with business owners to ensure all learning and development materials are focused on addressing the customer’s needs and closing business performance gaps.
    • Creates storyboards and graphic representation of e-learning content.
    • Creates project plans and outlines to ensure deliverables are met.
    • Creates assessment tools to measure results against training objectives, summarizes evaluations and makes program recommendations as needed.


  • Maintains program quality and updates modules/training materials as needed to ensure that all materials are current and up to date and all trainers are informed and kept up to speed on changes.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends in the area of e-learning/multimedia design and supporting technologies and recommends training methods and approaches.
  • Mentors E-learning Design Specialist as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple e-learning design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Captivate, HTML as well as rapid e-learning development tools with the ability to create online learning content from concept to finished product utilizing creative, interactive methodologies and learning approaches that are SCORM compliant.
  • Ability to develop SCORM compliant online learning content.
  • Ability to develop storyboards and graphic representation of e-learning content.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint with the ability to input data and/or create simple tracking spreadsheets in Excel, compose scripts that are professionally created in Word and create presentations in PowerPoint utilizing animations, graphics, video content etc. as needed.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective learning programs and assess their impact on employee performance with the ability to design post evaluations.
  • Experience creating learning and development content focused on the use of internal systems/procedures.
  • Strong proficiency in adult learning and instructional design concepts with a focus on virtual/e-learning design and training methodologies.
  • Experience working in a technical sales environment.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to effectively work with other team members and trainees.
  • Project Management skills with the ability to identify and map out project completion timelines and associated deliverables.
  • Adaptable with ability to handle multiple tasks and shift between competing tasks to meet deadlines; willingness to change or adapt to change. Ability to work under pressure and in an environment of changing organizational needs.
  • Flexible with ability to perform in ambiguous situations.
  • Articulate with ability to express oneself clearly and professionally in written and oral communication with a wide range of people including executives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include an ability to create effective learning and strategies.
