Description

BlueHalo, an AV company, is seeking a Engineer / Applied Physicist to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This position supports the full lifecycle of mechanical and system design-including 3D modeling, drawing creation, hands-on prototyping, and testing-in both lab and field environments.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, scientists, and program managers, to design, prototype, and deliver complex hardware and software systems.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Create 3D part and assembly models in SolidWorks



  • Generate detailed manufacturing prints using GD&T



  • Support prototyping, fabrication, and testing, including hands-on hardware assembly



  • Collaborate across disciplines to integrate mechanical designs with electronics and software



  • Provide input on design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, and material selection



  • Participate in shop work including machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and system assembly



  • Conduct lab and field testing of prototype hardware



  • Support documentation, test execution, and system integration activities as needed




This position is onsite at BlueHalo - Albuquerque, NM
Occasional travel may be required



    Required Qualifications:




    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)



    • 1-7 years of relevant engineering or scientific experience



    • Proficiency in SolidWorks for part/assembly modeling and drawing creation



    • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawing standards



    • Hands-on experience with assembly, prototyping, and use of standard hand tools



    • Familiarity with machining operations, CNC processes, and shop practices



    • Experience supporting lab or field testing of technical equipment



    • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills



    • Self-driven, with a willingness to take on diverse tasks and learn from experienced team members



    • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance




    Preferred Qualifications:




    • Experience with low-volume prototyping or production



    • Exposure to thermal, structural, or tolerance analysis (hand calculations or FEA)



    • Experience integrating mechanical and electronic systems



    • Familiarity with aerospace or defense-grade materials, coatings, and hardware



    • Experience creating technical documentation such as test plans or work instructions



    • Hands-on experience with optical and electrical equipment in a lab setting



    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through work or personal projects
