The Opportunity with McKinstry We are seeking a Building Controls Operations Specialist to join our Florida Operations Center team as part of our growing ActiveOps division in Tampa, FL. McKinstry has a unique perspective on the life of a building, and our Technical Services suite of owner-direct offerings assists clients in making the best decisions to improve the efficiency, comfort, sustainability, and lifespan of their building. The Florida Operations Center provides solutions for building mechanical & automation systems and operations support. Our team focuses on optimizing the performance, efficiency, and longevity of systems within the built environment. We perform services such as occupant comfort & indoor air quality (IAQ) issue diagnosis and resolution, user interface (UI) graphics enhancement, systems engineering & standardization, integration, and technical support. As a Building Controls Operations Specialist, you will provide off-site troubleshooting support for building automation systems (BAS) performance issues. You may also train or direct Analysts while providing technical support and oversight to BAS contractors and client technicians for BAS-related workflow. In this role, you will leverage your knowledge of BAS networks to ensure remodeled systems are optimized to maximize data throughput and maintain stable architectures that support the demanding needs of healthcare, critical facilities, higher education, and K-12 environments. This position is based in Tampa, Florida. Key Responsibilities: Review and generate client deliverables. Acquire, analyze, and report building automation data feeds. Intake, triage, and respond to work orders. Ensure timely closeout and documentation of work orders. Communicate escalated work orders to appropriate technical resources. Mentor and elevate staff technical skills. * Perform other duties as assigned. What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry Technical degree (bachelor's degree in data or engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience demonstrating progressive growth and responsibility. At least 3 years of commercial HVAC experience, including chilled water systems, building automation systems (BAS) control experience, with priority on Tridium (Niagara), Alerton, KMC, and JCI-Metasys systems. Experience with multiple building controls systems (Alerton, Distech, Honeywell, Siemens, Tolon, Tridium, etc.) and advanced understanding of building systems, BAS, and programming. Knowledge of building commissioning, optimization, facility operations and maintenance, and energy-saving programs is a plus. Proficiency in building data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and general computer technologies and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data visualization tools such as Excel or introductory experience with Tableau/Power BI is a plus. Ability to troubleshoot, triage, diagnose root cause, and resolve issues related to BAS field devices, programming code, and sequences of operation, while managing highly technical issues and documenting findings. Ability to manage portfolio-wide schedules and system overrides. Effective communication skills and a commitment to best-in-class customer service when interacting with internal and external stakeholders. The pay range for this position is $30.55 - $45.13 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
