The Opportunity

The Director oversees the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of K-12 summer programs and outreach at the university's Daytona Beach campus. This role leads, coaches, and mentors full-time staff, temporary/seasonal personnel, and student workers; collaborates across campus; and represents the K-12 Education & Outreach team as a visible, solutions-oriented leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, marketing, recruitment, and execution of all summer programs and outreach initiatives-including, but not limited to, summer camps, Women in Aviation events, STEM Day, and other special events that support university growth.
  • Own day-to-day operations and ensure an excellent, student-centered experience for all participants.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans; coordinate with the K-12 Education & Outreach department to establish annual goals and initiatives.
  • Serve as the decision-making authority for K-12 grievances/issues and for programming policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including the university's Minors on Campus policy, academic/catalog policies, and other administrative requirements applicable to K-12 and summer programs.
  • Support and monitor K-12 events hosted by other university stakeholders; partner closely with College Deans, Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, Faculty, Admissions, Registrar, IT, Events, Facilities, and other units to advance K-12 programming and recruitment.Build and sustain strong relationships with local community partners-school districts, industry partners, and other public and private organizations-to expand access and impact.
  • Model collaborative leadership and partner with Student Support leadership to promote a campus-wide, customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or management preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of information systems and technical skills with Microsoft systems (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of staff, students, and faculty.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, co-workers, staff, faculty and other constituents. Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisor and other staff members at all times.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to recognize and deal with priorities, recognize and perform duties not directly assigned, and assist others as needed.
  • Ability to learn new things and adjust to the pace of changing technology.
  • Ability to investigate, problem solve and take corrective action.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image.
  • Tactfully handle difficult situations and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties.
  • Ability to use good judgement and make informed decisions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory and leadership experience in an educational or customer service setting is required.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's license (or be able to get one) and be approved in the University's driver database.
