Location Profile

Located in Wilder, KY and founded in 1946, Andrews Laser Works specializes in the fabrication of complex assemblies from Inconel, steel, aluminum, and titanium sheet with a core competency in aero engine brackets and components. Utilizing laser cutting, machining, forming, stamping, welding, & assembly processes, the company transforms sheet metal into complex, tight-tolerance brackets for aircraft engines. Job Description

The Manager of EHS is responsible for influencing a strong safety culture by developing, implementing, coordinating and maintaining the Environmental, Health and Safety programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Provides technical safety/environmental support and record keeping. Monitors the workplace and trains employees to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Primary duties will include ensuring compliance, overseeing worker safety training programs, investigating and recommending courses of action for on-the-job accidents, analyzing potential worker safety risks, implementing measures to mitigate safety risks, and facilitating required government safety inspections. The Manager of EHS will take a proactive approach to problem solving and risk mitigation.

The Manager of EHS requires strong managerial, communication, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work in both a team and independently. The Manager of EHS must also be able to manage high stress and emergency situations. This role typically works during regular business hours but is expected to be on-call in the event of a safety emergency on-site.



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Understands and ensures adherence to Federal and State (California) occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur. Advises manufacturing plant and corporate staff of regulatory changes to ensure timely compliance.
  • Complies with all environmentally safe practices and regulations. Reads all SDS' and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.
  • Directs the maintenance of inventory of existing installations, including hazardous waste storage, and their status regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulatory laws.
  • Provides technical supervision to determine whether pollution control considerations are adequate. Develops and recommends policies in the specific area of pollution abatement and environmental management.

    Risk Management

    • In partnership with operational leadership, conducts regular and thorough safety inspections, audits, walk-throughs of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify potential hazards
    • Oversees plant safety inspections and advises on proper corrective actions. Interfaces with officials/auditors from regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractors.
    • Performs comprehensive risk assessments to recommend effective controls measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.
    • Support corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.

      Incident Investigation & Analysis

      • Lead and conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes.
      • Develop and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence, ensuring effective implementation and closure.
      • Generate detailed incident reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders and take appropriate action as necessary to resolve possible problems
      • Participate in process reviews (such as process hazard analyses, etc.).

        Training and Education

        • Provides technical EH&S support and information to the required personnel.
        • Provides coaching and mentorship to supervisors and employees on best safety practices
        • Develops, implements, coordinates and performs effective and engaging EH&S training to all employees, including new hire safety orientation
        • Develops and implements general and department-specific safety programs for the company; develops annual Company safety goals and follows through with processing ideas and suggestions related to safety.
        • Promotes safety and health awareness through company communication channels, which include briefings, digital communication boards and/or other creative means.
        • Lead EH&S related committees to engage and influence the workforce on best practices and to develop a strong culture of safety

          Program Development and Implementation

          • Develop written safety/environmental policies that are in compliance with government guidelines, regulations and laws.
          • Develop, implement, and maintain all written EH&S programs and policies in accordance with OSHA, USEPA and/or corporate standards and in compliance with applicable laws.
          • Maintain a high level of internal control over environmental and safety processes and implements controls to manage business risks consistent with PCC expectations. This involves continuous compliance, auditing and certification of the environmental, health and safety processes to ensure they meet PCC expectations and local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
          • Implement new safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects, that meet PCC standards, to enhance overall safety performance
          • Implement a safety recognition program to engage and influence the workforce to promote a safer work environment.

            Performance Measurement and Reporting

            • Completes, submits and maintains records of all required environmental reporting.
            • Track, analyze and report on incident rates, near-misses, and safety audit findings
            • Prepares comprehensive safety reports for management and communicate areas of improvement and other trends that may be relevant to improving the plant's overall safety score
            • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation.
            • Partners with leadership to ensure employee adherence to safety rules


              Experience & Education

              • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene or a closely related field
              • A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred
              • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in EHS, preferably in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace or Automotive)
              • Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; other productivity tools.
