NSF International
United States, Michigan, Traverse City
Oct 26, 2025

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sample Preparation

* Precisely weigh samples according to testing requirements, ensuring consistency in sample preparation methods.

* Document the weights of each sample to ensure traceability and consistency in lab records.

* Organize and label samples efficiently, ensuring that all samples are properly identified and stored before and after testing.

* Check and prepare working stock solutions and mobile phases as needed.

* Sort and arrange samples according to their preparation type (e.g., matrix type or extraction method) to streamline the

preparation workflow.

* Scan samples into the LIMS, updating their status from "in prep" to "in testing" for proper tracking.

* Download the instrument work list and print vial labels to ensure accurate identification and tracking of each sample throughout

the analysis.

* Add the necessary solvents to samples and perform extractions using techniques such as vortexing, sonication, or hot water bath.

* Accurately label all tubes and vials to correspondent with the work-list, ensuring the samples are organized and prepared for loading

into the HPLC-DAD instrument.

Instrument Operation & Maintenance

* Prepare calibration checks, such as prepping calibration standards and helping with baseline verification.

* Setup the operation of HPLC-DAD instruments, run analytical sequences and set instrument parameters.

* Assist in the routine maintenance, calibration, and repair of the HPLC-DAD instruments and other relevant lab equipment.

* Assist in routine maintenance tasks such as replacing solvent bottles, maintaining mobile phase levels, cleaning auto-samplers, and

replacing columns when necessary.

* Record maintenance and calibration activities by updating bench sheets and ensuring accurate documentation of instrument tracking

and performance logs.

Data Processing

* Review calibration curves to flag any obvious issues and assess linearity and peak integrations.

* Check chromatograms for basic issues, such as missing or misassigned peaks, and analyze assignment and proper

chromatographic integration.

* Support the initial review of quality control data, including running checks on standards, CCVs, and blank injections,

while learning how to identify anomalies.

SECONDARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning Tasks & Lab Upkeep

* Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation with routine cleaning of the team workspace and instruments.

* Complete other daily and weekly cleaning tasks as assigned by lab management.

* Contribute to lab sample disposal efforts.

Inventory & Equipment Management

* Monitor stock levels of essential consumables and solvents required for routine testing.

* Conduct weekly audits of team consumables.

* Perform and record routine pipette and dispensette checks.

Collaboration & Support

* Work closely with the Team Lead and other team members to complete projects and/other lab activities.

* Provide input on potential process improvements and contribute to team discussions on optimization and efficiency.
