| Position Summary |
This incumbent will support the research and outreach activities of the Research and Education Garden on the
UGA Griffin Campus. It will be assigned to the Field Research Services unit and work under the supervisor of the Research and Education Horticulturist. It will have assigned duties and responsibilities in landscape management of the grounds surrounding the Garden Education Building, maintenance of the Demonstration Gardens, routine upkeep around research plots, operational management of the greenhouse and shade house facilities and the plant material maintained therein, and general upkeep of the 60-acre Research and Education facility. |

Knowledge of landscaping techniques, plants and trees (usage, cultivation and habitat); operation of all types of mowers, skid steer, Dingo, tractors and small landscape equipment (weed-eaters, chain saw, backpack blowers).
Georgia Commercial Pesticide license; Georgia Certified Landscape Professional (

- Scouting for pests on a daily basis and anything out of the ordinary.

- Plant seeds of annuals and perennials for use within the garden area.
- Maintenance of the greenhouse and keep it in good working order and condition.

- Application of pesticides, maintenance of equipment, irrigation installation and repair, interaction with researchers and/or technicians, interaction with Research and Education Garden clientele and visitors which includes to keep and maintain updated records of pesticide applications and applicable signage in those areas of pesticide use.
- Keep up maintenance of various lawn equipment, tractors, dingo, golf carts, and other equipment.
- Irrigation needs vary within the Research and Education Garden and require constant monitoring and even, on some occasions, new installation and repairs.
- Cooperate in a professional manner with researchers and technicians as well as visitors and other clientele.
