Health Care Surveyor

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Care Surveyor to join our team in the Division of Nursing Care Facilities. In this role, you will ensure that nursing home residents receive proper care by conducting inspections of nursing homes to evaluate the quality of care and determine eligibility of facilities for state and federal licensure and certification. In this position, you will evaluate compliance with state and federal regulations that pertain to long-term health care providers and facilities. Your work will involve the evaluation of the quality of care provided to residents in long-term care facilities and the investigation of complaints relative to the quality of care and services provided to residents. By demonstrating critical thinking and professional judgment, you will gather and document survey data, apply regulations to survey findings, and prepare survey reports. Some of your duties will include conducting on-site and in-office surveys, reviewing incident reports, and reporting serious events to the supervisor. You will also review and approve plans of corrections, then follow up with providers as needed. Additionally, you may be assigned to function independently, with a partner, as a member of a team, or as the designated team coordinator during on-site surveys.

Travel throughout the state, including overnight trips and frequent travel within Lancaster, Chester, and part of Delaware counties, is necessary. You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in audiology, communication sciences and disorders (CSD), cognitive disabilities, gerontology, health administration, nutrition, dietetics, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychology, public health, recreational therapies, respiratory therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, nursing home administration, or vocational rehabilitation; and one year of related professional experience; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of related professional experience.

Special Requirements:

• All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
• All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
