Graduate internship program for students majoring in computer science and related fields who are interested in working at a national science research laboratory. While providing the opportunity to gain understanding of and experience with Fermilab's computing for high energy physics, interns assist with laboratory research and development efforts to explore and enable the use of state-of-the-art tools and technology for the benefit of the science community.

Eligibility

  • Enrollment in a U.S. college or university graduate program in computer science or related field

  • 3.0 grade point average or above on a 4.0 scale

  • Eligible to work in the United States

Internship Details

  • Program Dates: May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026

  • Application Dates: November 3, 2025 - January 17, 2026

  • Offer Date: February 21, 2026

  • Acceptance Date: February 27, 2026

  • Salary: Depending on academic year

    Master (year 1) - $1,000 per 40-hour workweek
    Master (year 2) - $1,050 per 40-hour workweek
    PhD - $1,100 per 40-hour workweek

  • Airfare/Housing/Transportation: Airfare, Housing and Transportation paid by the program if permanent address is more than 50 miles from host laboratory.

  • Location: Onsite work schedule
