Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity for an Avionics Engineer Senior, supporting the AFLCMC/WNB T-7 Program, at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Apply knowledge of avionics engineering to support subsystem definition, development, integration, and verification.
  • Review Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and contribute to sustainment, modeling/simulation, test and evaluation, and airworthiness certification.
  • Utilize expertise in CNS/ATM (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management) requirements, policies, and regulations to:
    • Define system requirements
    • Complete CNS/ATM compliance matrices
    • Support testing and certification of aircraft and related systems
  • Assist in reviewing, developing, and updating program documentation related to avionics engineering requirements.
  • Perform analyses of avionics systems and subsystems, including:
    • System threat analysis
    • Laser systems
    • Computer systems
    • Avionics interfaces
    • Multiplex bus communications
  • Identify potential issues and areas for improvement for U.S. Government consideration.


Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Secret

Education / Years of Experience:

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD
  • Or, BA/BS degree, and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD
  • Degree from an ABET-accredited educational program

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying engineering principles through rigorous coursework and hands-on projects aligned with ABET accreditation standards.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals, ensuring the ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
  • Trained in industry-relevant tools and methodologies, including design, simulation, and testing techniques consistent with ABET curriculum requirements.
  • Experienced in multidisciplinary teamwork and engineering ethics, with a focus on lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

Interpersonal Skills

    • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, technicians, and program managers, to ensure seamless integration of avionics systems.
    • Communicates complex technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to support documentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Adapts quickly to dynamic project environments and client needs, maintaining professionalism and productivity in high-pressure, fast-paced aerospace settings.
    • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, fostering a cooperative work environment and ensuring alignment with project goals and safety standards.
