    Principal Solution Architect | Grand Rapids, MI or Minneapolis, MN 
     
     
     
     As a Principal Solution Architect, you will engage with customers to understand their business drivers, assess application and service portfolios, and design reliable and cost-effective architectures. You will champion the solutioning process with a structured approach, partnering with customers, Sales, and other teams within Vervint. You will have conversations and host interviews with different stakeholders at various levels in customer organizations, such as:  
     
     
       
      - With a Business Leader about how technology can enable reaching their goals or pursue new opportunities.
 - With an Enterprise Architect about building applications out of services, application security models, role-based access control or messaging patterns.
 - With an IT Professional about application monitoring and continuous deployment. 
 - With a Developer about design and the code. 
 
       
      
     
     Additionally, this role will play a pivotal part in leading internal development efforts. You will lead teams focused on developing revised and new packaged offerings, ensuring these products meet market needs and align with Vervint's strategic objectives. This includes driving product development initiatives, refining existing offerings, and introducing new solutions that enhance Vervint's service portfolio. As the leader in internal product innovation, you will ensure cross-functional collaboration and product quality. 
     
     
     
     This role will work closely with Practice Leads, Program Managers, Client Services and other departments in their functional areas to ensure that customer requirements are thoroughly understood and reflected in solution offering development. The Principal Solution Architect will spend most of their day interacting with several customer stakeholders, including Developers, Team Leads, Engineering Directors, and CxOs.

     Business Development/Pre-Sales: 
     
     
       
      - Owns solution architecture development during pre-sales, collaborating closely with Account Executives, Principal Architects, Pre-sales Architects, Enterprise Architects, as well as Practice Leads and Directors, and clients to define the scope, objectives, and success metrics of the solution. Leads the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and task breakdowns by translating business needs into actionable outcomes.
 - Acts as a key contributor to the sales strategy by presenting the architecture vision and value proposition to client executives, showcasing how technical solutions drive business transformation.
 
       
      
     
     Practice Development: 
     
     
       
      - Develops and disseminates best practices and architectural frameworks within the organization. Regularly contributes to white papers, technical blogs, and external publications to solidify the firm's leadership in solution architecture. 
 - Establishes comprehensive architectural governance frameworks, ensuring all solutions adhere to internal standards, security protocols, and compliance regulations.
 - Stays at the forefront of technological advancements and emerging trends, advocating for their strategic implementation within the organization. Spearheads initiatives to explore new technologies and methodologies that enhance service offerings.
 - Actively participates in professional development activities, such as training, conferences, and certifications, to enhance your skills and capabilities.
 
       
      
     
     People Management: 
     
     
       
      - Provides high-level guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams, keeping the overall vision and technical outcomes aligned with client goals. Shapes the direction of solution delivery from inception to completion.
 - May play a technical project manager role alongside a project manager. 
 - Mentors and coaches team members of architectural concepts, design patterns, and best practices. 
 - Establishes an empowerment culture by coaching delivery teams to take full ownership of solution implementation. Engages deeply in the initial phases of projects and progressively transitions responsibilities to the team to foster self-sufficiency.
 - Mentors others that are working toward a Solution Architect or Senior Solution Architect role.
 
       
      
     
     Client Management: 
     
     
       
      - Collaborates with clients and stakeholders to understand their business needs, functional requirements, and technical constraints. 
 - Builds and nurtures long-term relationships with C-level client executives, providing thought leadership and advisory services on enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps, and organizational transformation.
 - Serves as a strategic partner to clients, offering high-level coaching and consultancy on optimizing their technology ecosystems to meet evolving business goals. Facilitates key conversations between delivery teams and client stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and delivery success.
 - Present solution designs and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and project teams, effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
 
       
      
     
     What You'll Bring: 
     
     
     
     The Principal Solution Architect role is a very technical role - you must be broadly competent across many areas of technology (infrastructure, security, DevOps, databases, application development, analytics) and deep in at least 2-3 of those areas. On the business side, the ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a Principal Solution Architect's success. 
     
     
       
      - Significant expertise and experience in more than one domain, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex solutions and software/technology sales or consulting. Familiarity in one or more other domains, to the extent to understand how to leverage them within solutions. 
 - Broad understanding of multiple domains and their integration into comprehensive solutions, with a focus on achieving business outcomes through technology.
 - Experience working with several clients in setting an IT strategy to accomplish their stated business goals. 
 - Experience as an Engagement Architect on multiple cross-domain projects, with a strong track record of building and mentoring self-sustaining project teams.
 - Experience building self-sustaining project teams that successfully carry on after your involvement has ended. 
 - Strong understanding of architecture principles, patterns, and methodologies, including enterprise architecture frameworks and cloud computing principles. 
 - Demonstrated experience in diagramming and documenting solution architecture. 
 - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others and build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels. 
 - Familiarity with the "Trusted Advisor" model and experience applying it at multiple clients. 
 - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and adapt to evolving business requirements and technical landscapes, with experience working with several clients in setting an IT strategy to accomplish their stated business goals. 
 - A mindset that is comfortable working at the intersection of technology and business. 
 - Significant experience building task breakdowns and contributing solution overviews, outcomes, and requirements/limitations for SOW's. Experience controlling risk in engagements through consistently aligning tasks with the SOW and building change orders for any change in scope. 
 - Experience mentoring teams on multiple engagements to deliver with quality and the intended outcomes.
 - Relevant certifications (e.g. TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) are a plus.
 
       
      
     
     
     
     Education/Experience: 
     
     
       
      - Bachelor's degree, or master's degree, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
 - At least 12 years of success in complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design and implementation.
 - At least 7 years of experience leading technical teams.
 - At least 5 years of success in digital transformation roles.
