 Responsibilities: The Global Sports Editor sets the agenda for AP's sports coverage, from the biggest global events to breaking news, compelling enterprise and innovative storytelling that engages audiences around the world. In this role, you will oversee coverage of marquee events like the Olympics, World Cup, Super Bowl and major college sports, while ensuring AP is equally strong on breaking news, investigative reporting and creative digital formats. In this role, you will expand our reach to new audiences. This includes advancing visual and video-first storytelling, exploring new formats such as live blogs and social-friendly video. You'll place a special focus on working closely with AP video journalists, as well as our external sports video partner. The successful candidate will work closely with leaders in Product and Revenue identifying opportunities that ensure AP's products and resources are aligned with the most valuable coverage. You will partner with video, photo, data and audience teams to create a truly integrated sports report, while fostering collaboration with AP's global beat teams across all formats. We're looking for a Global Sports Editor who will promote innovative and inclusive coverage that maintains AP's standards for integrity and objectivity. You will develop, support and mentor your staff, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration and accountability through regular feedback, evaluations and stretch opportunities. You must have the ability and willingness to work at night and on weekends, or as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation. Required Qualifications: 
 Preferred Qualifications: Strong leadership skills are essential: Ideally, you have at least ten years of experience as a manager at a news organization. In this role, you will recruit, develop and retain top talent, fostering an inclusive culture grounded in equity, collaboration and respect. You'll champion diversity of thought and experience in both staffing and storytelling, ensuring our coverage connects with and reflects the global audiences we serve. You'll set high standards for accuracy, fairness and creativity, and inspire your team to meet them. The Global Sports Editor reports to the Director of Global Beats and is part of AP's senior editorial leadership, helping shape the future of AP's journalism. The role is based at AP's New York headquarters, with at least three days per week worked in office, and will require travel to lead coverage of major sports events worldwide.
