We're seeking a results-oriented and visionary Director, Land Transportation to develop and lead purchased transportation strategies supporting Over-the-Road (OTR) and Intermodal operations across the U.S. In this high-impact role, you'll oversee dispatch, carrier relationships, and network efficiency for our House Hold Goods (HHG), Commercial, and Hawaii trade lane customers. Your Role: Lead, Optimize, and Deliver
Shaping operational excellence through strategy, leadership, and innovation.
  • Operational Leadership - Direct day-to-day activities for dispatch and transportation teams, ensuring seamless performance across OTR, intermodal, local drayage, and rail operations.
  • Strategy Development - Create and execute transportation network strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and align with business goals.
  • Vendor Management - Negotiate contracts, manage relationships with carriers and Intermodal Marketing Companies (IMCs), and ensure compliance with service-level agreements.
  • Performance Optimization - Develop metrics and processes for tracking shipments, improving visibility, and enhancing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Safety - Ensure operations adhere to transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies through effective procedures and oversight.
  • Technology & Analytics - Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and data analytics to optimize routing, scheduling, and performance.
  • Team Leadership - Lead, mentor, and develop geographically dispersed management and dispatch teams to ensure alignment, accountability, and growth.
  • Collaboration & Communication - Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to deliver operational excellence and exceptional customer experiences.
  • Continuous Improvement - Identify, evaluate, and implement best practices to enhance operational effectiveness and adaptability in a dynamic logistics environment.
What You Bring to the Team
A commitment to operational excellence, collaboration, and results.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications - Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) preferred.
  • Experience -
    • 8+ years of experience in transportation management and dispatch operations.
    • 5+ years of leadership experience managing diverse, multi-site teams.
    • Strong background in intermodal rail operations, OTR trucking, and vendor management.
    • Proven success in developing operational strategies, managing budgets, and improving performance metrics.
  • Skills & Knowledge -
    • In-depth knowledge of purchased transportation, routing, and dispatch operations.
    • Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
    • Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and control costs.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and dispatch software (Proficiency with Trinium and Truckmate TMS platforms preferred)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools.
