Your role

As a Field Service Technician at Leybold, you will install, troubleshoot, maintain, and service vacuum pumps and related equipment (mechanical and electrical) across a designated territory. This remote role is customer-facing and revenue-generating, with a strong focus on aftermarket sales, technical support, and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain Leybold vacuum systems and equipment.
  • Promote and sell spare parts, service repairs, and aftermarket solutions.
  • Collaborate with account managers to identify and penetrate new accounts.
  • Provide technical advice, training, and support to customers.
  • Maintain detailed records of site visits and follow-up activities.
  • Assist in product qualifications and installations.
  • Recommend products/services tailored to customer needs.
  • Support sales channels with technical expertise.
  • Train and mentor additional field service staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed, you will need
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of field service experience preferred.
  • Background in automotive or mechanical repair/assembly.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with vacuum technology (e.g., turbopumps, dry pumps, leak detectors).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to build customer relationships and drive aftermarket sales.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer environments.

Compensation:

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on everyone's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Range:

$46,189 - $64,010

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Occasional work at heights or with hazardous materials.
  • Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 20 lbs.
  • Requires use of a full-face respirator and passing a pulmonary function test.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 50% travel, including overnight stays and multi-day trips.
  • Domestic travel primarily within the Western US.
