Position summary: Are you enthusiastic about shaping transportation systems, fostering community development, and advancing sustainability? Our Planning Internship provides immersive, hands-on experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment where your contributions can truly make a difference. As an intern, you will actively support a variety of planning projects and initiatives, gaining exposure to real-world processes and community engagement. We are seeking candidates with a strong passion for transportation, community, and environmental planning, who possess proficiency in GIS software, graphic design, and technical writing. This role is ideal for those eager to apply their skills while learning from experienced planners and making a meaningful impact on communities.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

The hourly rate associate with this position is $21.00 - $26.00 based on education level.

Essential functions and responsibilities



  • Demonstrate proficiency with GIS software (such as the ESRI suite), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Assist in conducting research and analysis for diverse planning projects.
  • Create high-quality content for reports, presentations, and outreach materials, including written text, infographics, maps, and other graphics.
  • Collaborate with experienced planners on a wide range of planning initiatives.
  • Participate in real-world planning processes and community engagement activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • College student enrolled (or intending to enroll) in a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as transportation planning, urban/regional planning, environmental planning, geography, public policy, landscape architecture, engineering, or economics.


Preferred Experience



  • Coursework in related field
  • Previous internship experience


Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
