Reporting to the Sr Legal Counsel, SHE & Product Regulation COE, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to Nutrien's Safety, Health, and Environmental leadership, providing practical, business-focused guidance across complex and evolving regulatory environments. You will play a key role in enabling safe, compliant, and efficient operations across Nutrien's global footprint, while gaining exposure to high-impact regulatory and operational challenges.

What You'll Do:

* Provide expert legal guidance to internal Nutrien stakeholders within the Safety, Health & Environmental function, supporting compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices across environmental and health and safety matters, including operational support, due diligence, contracting, and procurement.
* Advise on environmental, safety, and security requirements, permitting and compliance obligations, incident response, and privileged investigations, and provide counsel on other regulatory, safety, and environmental operational matters as needed.
* Initiate, manage, and oversee privileged investigations, ensuring appropriate legal rigor and risk mitigation.
* Provide input into decisions regarding the retention of external counsel and support the effective oversight and management of external legal resources when engaged.
* Continuously monitor, identify, and communicate regulatory compliance and operational requirements that may impact Nutrien globally.
* Synthesize complex regulatory requirements and provide clear, practical guidance to senior leadership and internal stakeholders, recommending paths forward that align with Nutrien's strategic priorities and operational efficiency.
* Identify legal and regulatory risks across jurisdictions and develop practical regulatory strategies to mitigate risk in all regions in which the company operates or sells products.
* Participate in relevant industry associations and working groups related to regulatory, safety, and environmental matters to stay informed of emerging trends and best practices.
* Provide legal guidance on the integration of acquired businesses with respect to environmental and safety matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, alignment with Nutrien policies, and smooth operational transitions.
* Comply with all Company standards, policies, and procedures, including the Statement of Core Values and Code of Business Conduct; Respect in the Workplace Policy; Safety, Health and Environment Policies; and any other applicable company or legislative requirements.

What You'll Bring:

* Licensed Attorney in the United States.
* 5+ years of in-house or law firm experience with direct client interaction and advisory responsibility.
* Background advising on environmental and safety compliance, permitting, incident response, and privileged investigations.
* Proven ability to partner directly with business leaders and operational teams, including support for due diligence, contracting, and procurement.
* Ability to deliver strategic, practical, and business-focused legal advice within a complex and evolving regulatory environment.
* Demonstrated capability to identify and mitigate regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions.
* Track record of managing and overseeing external counsel.
* Familiarity with agricultural crop inputs regulation or other highly regulated industrial, manufacturing, energy, or natural resource sectors.
* Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting capabilities demonstrated through prior work product.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this role is between $150,000 $210,000. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week. In addition, we have a retirement program that encourages our employees to save for the longer term, with generous matching employer contributions. In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee. Details will be discussed through the application process.
