Job Description

We're looking for an engineer to join our Operations team at Form Factory 1 to bridge the gap between initial design and massive scale, playing a critical role in transforming our groundbreaking iron-air battery technology into a high-volume reality. As the lead for scaling production lines received from our Advanced Manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the seamless transition and optimization of complex manufacturing processes. Your work will directly enable us to meet the multi-day energy storage needs of the global electric grid by ensuring our factory operations are efficient, reliable, and ready for growth. This is an opportunity to own the "how" of our production and build the systems that will power a better world.

This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 - Form Energy's 550,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Weirton, WV, a commutable distance from Pittsburgh. Purpose-built for high-volume, advanced battery production, Form Factory 1 is a hub of fast-moving, collaborative work driving a new era of large-scale American energy manufacturing in the heart of the Rust Belt.

Relocation assistance is available.

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end transition of manufacturing lines from the Advanced Manufacturing team to high-volume production operations.

  • Optimize complex assembly processes to improve cycle times, increase yield, and ensure consistent product quality across the factory floor.

  • Analyze operational data and failure modes to identify trends and implement data-driven improvements that enhance safety and process reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to refine process specifications and incorporate design-for-manufacturing feedback into next-generation production lines.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive standard work documentation to ensure successful handoffs and training for our technician teams.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage process-level projects from concept through long-term sustainment at scale.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering, with 7+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Proven track record of scaling early-stage manufacturing processes into stable, high-output production lines.

  • Deep expertise in structured troubleshooting methods, root cause analysis (RCA), and failure documentation.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear procedures for diverse audiences.

  • Applied experience using data-driven tools and statistical software to optimize manufacturing performance and reduce costs.

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where safety and excellence are paramount.
