Description

Core Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for core accounting and financial reporting related activities of East Granby OEM business and supporting East Granby CRO and East Hartford Operations as required by the Finance Leader.
  • Responsible for supporting the monthly financial closing and financial reporting for the businesses, in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Proactively engaging in partnering with our outsourced Shared Services provider around Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and certain accounting and reporting related tasks.
  • Maintain accuracy of the general ledger, including balance sheet reconciliations with a focus on timely and proper identification and disposition of reconciling items through business interactions and partnership with outsource provider.
  • Monitor Vouchers Payable Report weekly and works with outsource provider/Shared Services Team and Division Purchasing/Shipping/Receiving personnel to disposition aged items.
  • Support a strong internal control environment by ensuring adequate processes and procedures are in place in accordance with Barnes Aerospace policies.
  • Support upstream daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for business leadership, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines and deliverables are met (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Work directly with Leadership to identify/promote continuous improvement and Lean initiatives in operations, asset management and productivity programs to maximize operating efficiencies and profitability.
  • Continuous partnership with the Data Analytics and IT teams during all system enhancements and integrations
  • Own the recording of all Payroll transactions processed by Shared Services Payroll, including proper and timely disposition of suspense transactions.
  • Support annual physical inventory and cycle counting requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of the business data in databases used for various business reporting tools.
  • Perform various financial analyses and special projects as requested/directed by Site leadership and Barnes Aerospace HQ.



Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of related financial and accounting experience in public or private accounting.
  • Effectiveness in a lean team environment.
  • High level of organization with attention to detail and minimal rework (i.e., accurate the first time through).
  • Critical thinking; strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Strong self-motivation with high standards.
  • Focus on results (prioritizes timeliness/accuracy/completeness over "time served").
  • Ability to manage simultaneous work assignments and projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong Computer skills in MS Office such as Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and other web applications.



Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA and/or MBA desired.
