GIS Specialist

Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our Renewables GIS team in our Minneapolis office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.



Duties and Responsibilities

    Work with clients and end users to build innovative GIS solutions using the ArcGIS platform
  • Perform complex GIS analysis using Esri's ArcGIS platform
  • Provide independent data interpretation while effectively maintaining data documentation.
  • Create and modify GIS datasets; manage and maintain legacy GIS datasets; develop and implement GIS-based analyses supporting renewable energy projects
  • Produce technically skilled and detailed solutions to include preparing clear, complete, and accurate representations of spatial data using ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Process data and graphics requests from project team members and anticipate information needs and presentation format as part of renewable energy project workflows
  • Work with project stakeholders to develop and maintain new and useful workflows utilizing web-based GIS
  • Develop and maintain geospatial data on desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and mobile applications. Ensure data meets appropriate data accuracy and content standards for quality assurance and quality control.


Required Experience

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, or related field with demonstrated capabilities in GIS.
  • Hands-on knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Demonstrated ability to work with standard GIS datasets and deliverables
    • GDB, SHP, SDE (Enterprise), Vector, Raster, Feature Services, etc.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Online
    • Dashboards, Hub Sites, Webapp Builder, Story Maps, Field Maps, Survey123, etc.
  • Experience using Arcade, Python, ModelBuilder, or another common GIS scripting language
  • Experience working with different coordinate systems, map projections, and datums
  • Familiarity with standard cartographic methods, theories, and principles.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, determine and set job task priorities and work with limited direct supervision.


Preferred Experience

  • Previous work in/familiarity with consulting engineers and/or surveyors.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and DWG files
  • Experience using Google Earth and KMZ files.
  • Familiar with LiDAR datasets and usage
  • Experience as a consultant
