Under the direction of the Hematology Oncology physician, provides primary medical management for hematology/oncology patients. Demonstrates professional image and leadership core competencies. Acts as a liaison within the team to promote consistent medical management of the patients across the health care continuum by collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team. May perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, skin biopsies and antineoplastic therapy ordering. Presents patient cases during team meetings. Provides patient/family and staff education. Supports the development and revision of divisional policies and procedures. Participates in and/or initiates research. Participates in community outreach and networking with community physicians and other health care professionals. Will provide care, including urgent symptom management, to hematology/oncology patients in the outpatient oncology patientsand infusion center as part of Triage and Same Day Service Clinic. Demonstrates knowledge of solid cancers and hematological blood cancers, including knowledge of pathology of patient population, expected outcomes, normal and abnormal lab results. Demonstrates knowledge of administration of chemotherapy and other common cancer medications. Demonstrates ability to learn to prescribe antineoplastic therapies as needed. Develops and expands the role responsibilities as patient and system needs change. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team. Has the ability to understand the medical as well as psych-social needs of a patient population with cancer. Will work with and evaluate patients on clinical trials. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $167,687 - $234,649 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $80.31 - $112.38 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
