Position Description

The Lyons School of Accounting in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to begin in fall 2026.

About the College

The Rawls College of Business is AACSB accredited. It offers a BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information systems, marketing, management, and supply chain management. It has three MBA programs: Professional MBA, Online MBA, and the STEM MBA. It also offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, human resource management, and marketing research & analytics. In addition, it offers a Ph.D. with concentrations in accounting, finance, information systems & quantitative science, management, and marketing. We have approximately 70 tenure track faculty and 60 non-tenure-track faculty. The college has approximately 5,800 undergraduate, 1,000 master's, and 60 doctoral students.

About the Department/School/Area

The Lyons School of Accounting is named after Terry Lyons, an alumnus whose family created a generous endowment to foster excellence in teaching, research, and service. The Lyons School employs 22 full-time faculty (seven Lecturers/Senior Lecturers, four Professors of Practice, and 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty) and nine doctoral students. Approximately 300 students enter the undergraduate accounting major each year, and approximately half of these students continue to earn their Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree.

Major/Essential Functions

At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate level.

As a faculty member in the Lyons School of Accounting, you will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the school and provide service to the school, college, university, and accounting profession.

Faculty Qualifications


  • A master's degree in accounting, information systems, or a closely related field
  • At least 18 graduate hours of accounting coursework
  • At least two years of full-time professional experience in accounting, information systems, or a closely related field
  • An active CPA license or CIA certification

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Teaching experience, especially in accounting information systems or data analytics
  • Credentials related to accounting information systems (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CRISC, or CFE)
  • Certifications related to accounting information systems (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or SQL)
