- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.
- Participate in health, environmental, and safety programs and adhere to safety procedures.
- Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
- Ensure that you and others are respected, supported and encouraged to grow and succeed in their job.
- With minimal supervision operates pilot plant processes, bench scale experiments, and auxiliary equipment, as well as performs laboratory tasks in a safe and proper manner, adhering to stated run conditions and following all safety procedures.
- Verifies test results with the analytical laboratory on process samples, records and communicates test results.
- Performs general maintenance tasks in such areas as pipefitting, insulation, instrumentation, etc. in the modification, maintenance and construction of pilot units.
- Assist in the construction and maintenance of pilot plant equipment.
- Provides general maintenance within the Technical Center facility as required.
- Assists in writing and implementing operational and maintenance procedures that comply with PSM standards and policies for the pilot plant unit operations.
- Maintains computer generated and/or written log of gauge readings, lab results, shift production and equipment malfunctions.
- Initiates & prepares safe and hot work permits, (required documentation), for maintenance as necessary. Performs maintenance within capabilities and prepares equipment for maintenance as directed.
- Participate in the Wichita Plant process safety programs to complete Process Hazard Analysis, to complete the Management of Change requirements, and to investigate process safety incidents. Ensure process safety information is current and accurate for the physical assets (P & IDs), for the process conditions (PFDs), for the process chemistry (MSDSs), and for the technician-process activities (procedures and work instructions.)
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities; possibly associated with several different people.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of experience in production or processing facility, preferably chemical plant operations or equivalent. A degree in a related curriculum with one-year applicable experience may be acceptable.
- Strong aptitude in general maintenance skills.
- Able to work rotating shifts, when needed, and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Able to read design sketches, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office software
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- Certificate of completion/graduation from a relevant trade or vocational training center.
- Chemical processing knowledge and experience with various types of reactors, types of distillation, and absorption processes including control board operation experience.
- Specialty maintenance skills such as welding, pipefitting, electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, insulating, and construction.
