DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As as Automotive Mechanic, you will have a wide range of responsibilities and tasks. One of your main duties will be to perform state inspections for safety and emissions on vehicles, ensuring that they meet the necessary regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for performing inspection repairs and completing inspection stickers and related records. Another important aspect of the position will be to perform preventive maintenance on both gas and diesel units, including tune-ups, tire changes, transmission services, and oil changes. You will also perform advanced vehicle diagnosis on various components such as the drivetrain, steering, transmission, brakes, and computer systems. Furthermore, you will be responsible for performing multi-agency specialized upfitting, which may include installing prisoner cages, gun racks, lighting, and other equipment. This diverse range of tasks requires strong technical skills and attention to detail to ensure the safety and functionality of vehicles. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
