The Diagnostic Imaging Technical Lead administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure patient safety. Demonstrates an initiative to stay abreast of current technology and show evidence of professional growth. Provides clinical services according to Imaging practice standards and acts as a resource to Imaging Students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self, as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines. Demonstrates leadership and independent judgment necessary to support an effective work environment.

Job Responsibilities


  • Oversees and assists team members in assigned functional area, which may include but not limited to, ensuring team is meeting key-deliverables and quality standards, addressing and resolving challenges, managing and tracking performance, and assisting in time management and scheduling; escalates issues to senior leaders as needed.
  • Obtains clinical history/informed consent from patients or patients' charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results.
  • Coordinates new team member and student department orientation/training. Assists with patient and team member scheduling to enhance the productivity of the department.
  • Maintains an orderly, safe, and clean environment to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies for procedures.
  • Operates imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Troubleshoots equipment effectively and reports equipment to Biomedical Engineering/Vendor, as evidenced by service reports.
  • Performs and documents routine quality control testing of equipment.
  • Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of image processors to maintain consistent image quality, as evidenced by the physician and exam results.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.



Additional Requirements

Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start; Must be certified by at least one of the following: ARRT, RDMS, RVT, ARMRIT, CAMRT or NMTCB;as applicable with additional certification in an applicable imaging modality required Upon StartLicensure - Upon start, must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an Inova Health System freestanding Imaging Center not affiliated with one of the Inova hospitals.Experience - Three years of Imaging experience in an applicable modality, X-Ray or Ultrasound or Cat Scan or Mammography or MRI or Interventional Radiology or Nuclear Medicine in a hospital/healthcare environment, Recent hospital experience.Education - Graduate of an accredited school/program of radiography, Nuclear Medicine or MRI certification from ARMRIT or CAMRT, Graduate of an accredited school of radiography or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
