DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Highway Sign Worker, your primary responsibilities will include the installation of sign posts and the erection and replacement of various types of signs, such as regulatory signs, traffic warning signs, destination signs, state route markers, and delineators. You will also be tasked with the removal of outdated or damaged signs and the replacement of small pavement markers. In addition to these duties, you will investigate and resolve complaints related to signage issues, ensuring that all signage meets safety and regulatory standards. Furthermore, your role will involve performing skilled maintenance work on all types of signs throughout Westmoreland County, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation network in the area.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Shift work may be required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a painter's helper or other work leading to journeyman skills in sign painting; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
