The Lee Lab at Mass Eye and Ear and Harvard Medical School seeks a bright and motivated individual for a research assistant position. Research will focus on novel modes of auditory stimulation with an array of auditory prothesis, including cochlear implants and auditory brainstem implants using electrical, magnetic and optogenetic stimulation. Responsibilities of the laboratory technician including a wide range intricate in-vivo surgeries using transgenic mouse strains and guinea pigs including stereotaxic injection, auditory brainstem implantation, cochlear implantation, middle ear and inner ear injections, as well as maintaining animal colonies, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, data analysis and contributions to clinical reviews.

Prior research experience is desirable. Please note that a two-year commitment to the position is required. For co-op students, you will be able to work full time for the duration of your co-op, with the flexibility to stay on part time upon return to classes. We offer the opportunity to return as a research tech after graduation to get the research experience for graduate school. This position is ideal for a two-year gap year student interested in otolaryngology research or medical school. You will work on a team with physician-scientists, residents, medical and graduate students along with shadowing opportunities.
