This work supports the development, application, and advancement of high-fidelity modeling and simulation tools used in Army rotorcraft acquisition programs, including

Future Vertical Lift (FVL).

Advanced tools such as CREATE-AV Helios and RCAS are applied to analyze rotorcraft aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and acoustics. These efforts directly contribute to improving aircraft performance, reducing technical risk, and enhancing the safety of current and future Army rotorcraft systems.

About the Project:

The Rotorcraft Modeling and Simulation Engineer will support Army rotorcraft engineering efforts through the application, development, and verification and validation (V&V) of advanced modeling and simulation tools. The position involves close collaboration with government and contractor teams and contributes to high-impact engineering decisions in rotorcraft design and acquisition.

Work location will be at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

Pay for this position is approximately $108,000 - $118,000 per year, commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply and enhance rotorcraft modeling and simulation software to address Army engineering challenges in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and acoustics
  • Develop, verify, and validate computational models to support rotorcraft design, analysis, and acquisition decisions
  • Perform multidisciplinary analyses involving fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, and comprehensive rotorcraft modeling
  • Support and contribute to software development activities on DoD high-performance parallel computing systems
  • Collaborate with government and contractor teams to integrate modeling and simulation tools into Army programs
  • Document methods, results, and present findings to support technical and program reviews

Required Qualifications:

  • Substantial experience in computational modeling and simulation for rotorcraft aerodynamics, acoustics, and structural dynamics
  • Strong background in rotorcraft analysis methods, acoustics modeling, and physics-based modeling
  • Experience with scientific programming, software development, mesh generation, and application of modeling tools
  • M.S.+3 years experience or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and advanced mesh generation techniques
  • Experience with multidisciplinary and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems

This position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency
