Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) seeks a Programmer Analyst II to support an Earth Science contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The candidate will provide web development and programming support to the SNOW Program.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Help define software requirements for federal data archives (e.g., NSIDC) to support scientific metadata and search systems.
  • Provide scientific and data management support, including temporary hosting for field campaign and validation teams.
  • Assist science teams with finalizing and archiving their data sets.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, systems engineering, physics, atmospheric science or related field and 5+ years' experience programming. Or, the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Django) to design and maintain functional, user-friendly websites.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) to manage content updates, announcements, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of web servers (Apache, Nginx), hosting environments, cloud services (AWS, Azure), and deployment workflows.
  • Ability to integrate charts, dashboards, and interactive visualizations to communicate program goals and progress.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, user authentication, and role-based access management.
  • Strong skills to coordinate with scientists, program managers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely content delivery.
  • Ability to monitor website performance, diagnose issues, perform backups, and implement updates.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
