Position Summary

Invest in your future. TCW is hosting its annual early insights summer program specifically designed for current first or second year students from all disciplines and majors who are keen to know how they can kick start their career today in the vast world of finance. Over the course of seven weeks, interns will come to understand the capital markets ecosystem and the fundamentals of credit investing.

The program's emphasis will be centered around introducing a practical framework and conventional analytics applied in fundamental credit research, such as: (i) understanding the structural differences between a bond and loan, (ii) interpreting financial statements, (iii) building a capital structure, (iv) computing financial ratios, (v) deriving cash flows of a business, and (vi) assessing how the market measures and prices credit risk.

Essential Duties

Gain on-the-job experience: Your first week will be dedicated to learning from our experienced credit investment professionals. You will then partner with an intern for a research project in the first half of the program, and with a second intern for a different project in the second half. These collaborative experiences are designed to strengthen your analytical and communication skills and will culminate in two formal presentations-one for each partnership-to an audience of investment professionals.
  • Receive professional support: You will be matched with a mentor who will be available to answer your questions, help you through challenging situations, and give you feedback throughout the course of the summer. You will also have the support of your cohort to support you through your internship experience. As a supplement to the teach-ins, you will have an opportunity to shadow investment professionals.
  • Benefit from a speaker series: TCW's top leaders and guest speakers will provide insight on how to make the most of your summer experience, share their career paths, tips, and advice, while also sharing trends in the financial and functional spaces they work in.
  • Build your network: We promote community involvement and networking with other summer interns both within TCW and within the financial industry. You will have the opportunity to create lasting professional relationships, build your network, and may be fast-tracked for interviews for a return internship.
