The Department of Philosophy at Davidson College invites applicants for a two year Visiting Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2026. Areas of Specialization and Competence are open, but the department anticipates teaching needs in the following areas: early modern philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of language, first-year writing.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in philosophy before the start of the appointment and be committed to outstanding teaching and continuing scholarly activity. The successful candidate will teach five courses each year, one of which may be in the college's Writing Program. The role does not require committee work or summer teaching. Undergraduate thesis supervision is possible.
