Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a DevOps Engineer. Strong capabilities in designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure management, and ensuring scalable deployments across cloud and on-premises environments are required. The DevOps Layer Engineer will remotely support US Southern Command. US citizenship, along with the ability to successfully pass a basic background check for access to US military bases, is required for employment. While no clearance is required, candidates with an active Secret or TS/SCI are preferred.

Work Setting:

    This role offers flexibility in location, with the option to work from any NV5 Regional Office or remotely from home.
  • Potential travel up to 5-15% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage a modular data layer architecture that supports scalable ingestion, transformation, and service of geospatial, non-geospatial, structured and unstructured data across containerized environments.
  • Develop and optimize ETL pipelines for real-time and batch processing of mission-relevant data, ensuring integration with both Esri and third-party analytic services.
  • Implement metadata management solutions such as tagging, schema validation, and indexing, to improve lineage tracking and facilitate governance alignment with IL4/IL5 controls.
  • Manage data access enforcement mechanisms including RBAC policies and encryption controls, consistent with NIST 800-53 Rev.5, FedRAMP, and DoD cybersecurity mandates.


Qualifications

Minimum Requriements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Science, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in DevOps engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing data governance frameworks, implementing metadata and data cataloging solutions, and ensuring compliance with IC data security policies.
  • Expertise with Esri geospatial data layers, ArcGIS Enterprise, and cloud-based geospatial services.
  • Strong understanding of databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, NoSQL), cloud storage solutions (AWS S2, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage), and Kubernetes-hosted geospatial applications.
  • Experience with tools such as Databricks Unity Catalog, Collibra, Alation, AWS Glue, or Azure Purview.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex project tasks.

Preferred:

  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DAMA Certified Data Government Professional (DGSO), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience with government IT programs and environments.

Clearance Requirement:

  • None required; US Government Secret or TS/SCI preferred
