Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Data Lake Engineer. Strong capabilities in supporting Data Lake platform administration and enterprise architecture are required. The Data Lake Engineer will be based at US Army Garrison Miami/US Southern Command. US citizenship, along with the ability to successfully pass a basic background check for access to US military bases, is required for employment. The successful candidate will have an active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable Data Lake architectures to support structured and unstructured data ingestion, ensuring efficient data access and retrieval.
  • Configure and manage the integration interface between the Data Lake and Stardog knowledge graph platform, including SPARQL endpoint access, metadata federation, and catalog alignment.
  • Follow access control policies and usage scope defined by the Government.
  • Optimize ETL pipelines for high-volume data transformation, ensuring compliance with DoD IL4/IL5 security standards.
  • Implement storage tiering strategies and access controls, ensuring data is properly classified, retained, and access per DoD governance requirements.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, Engineering Management, or a related field, or eleven (11) years of equivalent experience managing complex technical projects in enterprise data architecture, Databricks administration, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in Databricks platform administration, including workspace configuration, Unity Catalog, cluster performance tuning, and cloud integration.
  • Demonstrated experience in data pipeline development (ETL), Delta Lake optimization, and AI/ML workflow integration.
  • Demonstrated experience in SysEngOps, DevSecOps, version control systems (Git), and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and governance.
  • Demonstrated experience in Cloud Security, RBAC, and compliance with DoD data policies across AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • Hands-on expertise in Python, SQL/NoSQL, Apache Spark, Databricks SQL, and cloud-native data services for large scale data processing and analytics.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex project tasks.

Preferred:

  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience with government IT programs and environments.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active TS/SCI preferred
