Position: Strategic Sales Manager, Water Solutions

Primary Location: Home Based with Travel, to be located either within Canada or the US

Reports to: Sales Director, Water Solutions

Compensation: $160-170,000.00 + bonus + benefits. (salaried, exempt)

The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. Posted compensation reflects base salary only and excludes bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives.

About This Role and You

The role entails direct responsibility for formulating and executing the sales strategy and objectives to align with the Water Solutions business goals. This includes overseeing the activities of a portion of the sales team to ensure goal achievement as well as handling some of the global account of the business.

Key responsibilities also involve taking the appropriate action to protect base business customer while looking at new opportunities. Furthermore, the incumbent is tasked with understanding, analyzing, and disseminating market trends, movements, and critical data points across the organization. Collaboration with supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics departments is essential to identify and fulfill customer requirements efficiently.

Negotiating contracts and agreements for both contract and non-contract customers falls within the purview of this role. Cultivating and sustaining high-level relationships with core and key customers is imperative for business growth. Moreover, driving initiatives for growth and identifying value-added opportunities to enhance unit-holder value is crucial. The role also encompasses defining and implementing organizational changes to adapt to evolving business needs and market conditions. Flexibility to respond to internal and external changes swiftly while effectively communicating strategic direction is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

    minimum10 years sales, marketing or management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business (or related field)
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in logistics, customer service, manufacturing or other related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.
  • Solid understanding of other functional groups including manufacturing, logistics, customer service, supply chain, etc.

Responsibilities

Leadership of sales direct reports (40%)

  • Develop annual goals and objectives with team members, with periodic updates.
  • Facilitate attainment of objectives by sales team
  • Develop KPI to measure account manager performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Coach and Mentor direct reports; facilitate skills development & interest with applicable training

Keys Accounts Management (30%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing water chemical's key customers to understand needs, gain market knowledge and recommend actions.
  • Identify new potential water chemical's Key Accounts followed by understanding and development of business opportunity.
  • Coordinate relationship activity at Key Accounts involving SLT, Business Management and functions (supply chain, customer service, manufacturing).
  • Ensure relationships with end-use customers are favorable. Take appropriate action, where necessary, if customer is dissatisfied with any aspect of Chemtrade service.
  • Independently develop/implement specific account by account tactical strategy to exceed contribution/margin plan, focusing on key criteria of volume, selling price, freight optimization and customer tank car hold time.
  • Develop, analyze and negotiate sales agreements at strategic accounts with input from management in order to meet corporate objectives.
  • Answer customer's requests regarding their operation problems related directly or indirectly to the use of our products.
  • Work with Business Unit Corporate Account Managers to coordinate both water business activities at Key Accounts and Key Account management program.

Build Relationship and organic grow development (20%)

  • Work with peers on market development and/or investigation

Coordinate and optimize technical support to ensure customer needs are met (10%)

  • Translate customer requirements into internal processes, and prioritize (cost benefit analysis) effectively to meet needs
  • Understand, utilize and optimize the complicated supply network consisting of a combination of Chemtrade operated production facilities and 3rd party supply arrangements ensuring that customer needs are met and business financial margins are maximized.
  • Work with division technical resources and site managers in providing ongoing technical support and representation to regional Customers
  • Ensure prompt response to Customer inquiries, needs and/or difficulties
  • Lead new product/new business development innovation by coordinating customer challenges with the available resources
