General Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will have responsibility for the design, analysis, integration, and test of electrical systems associated with gas turbine engines and components. The engineer will be implementing electrical circuit design, electrical enclosures, wire harnesses, and test equipment for engine and component tests.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Applies knowledge of electronics design and development relevant to gas turbine engine and engine component tests.
  • Create and maintain detail design drawings of electronic and electrical interconnect systems.
  • Designs and assists in the development of new electro-mechanical systems and prototypes.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to determine solutions for electromechanical component packaging, thermal and environmental management, electrical interfaces, system integration and test.
  • Support engine/vehicle integration operations and testing.
  • Verification and validation process for engine avionics, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with electrical power control & distribution; energy storage, electro-mechanical machinery electric motor control, variable frequency drives, power supplies, and load banks.
  • Proficient with electrical systems design, modeling, and simulation using OrCAD Capture, PSpice and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • PCB design skills using Altium or similar software. Experience with fabrication and assembly of PCB, including functional electrical checks.
  • Experience performing trade-studies and sensitivity studies to determine preferred electrical design requirements and functionality.
  • Experience with high-level design and operational understanding of electronic components (power supplies, data acquisition systems, networks, RF systems).
  • Ability to support hands on system level lab integration and test.
  • Experience in industry standard root cause corrective analysis techniques, such as fault tree and fishbone analysis.


Education and Experience:



  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school.
  • 5+ years experience in electronics and electrical system design and development in gas turbomachinery or related industry.
  • Experience in developing test cases and test procedures.


Work Environment/Physical Requirements:



  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
