NEWLY CREATED OPERATIONS MANAGER ROLE

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of the yard, ensuring that all functional areas-including the Body Shop, Inventory, Security, and Custodial teams-operate efficiently and meet the needs of both buyers and sellers. This role reports directly to the General Manager and is accountable for setting clear goals, expectations, and performance standards across all operational functions.

A key component of this position is the ability to effectively manage and resolve arbitration-related issues, ensuring fair, timely, and accurate outcomes that protect both company integrity and customer relationships.

In addition, this role requires a strong mechanically inclined background. The ideal candidate must be comfortable inspecting vehicles, understanding mechanical conditions, identifying potential issues, and making informed operational decisions based on hands-on vehicle knowledge. Mechanical aptitude is not just preferred but essential to success in this role.

The Operations Manager also oversees the timely flow of inventory and services, while maintaining facility standards, safety compliance, and overall yard security. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence through both leadership and technical, hands-on expertise.

Responsibilities:

1. Daily Responsibilities

- Ensure CRs, and Pre/Post inspections are done correctly in a timely manner

- Work with Transportation Manager to determine projected volume

- Plan and Forecast workflow in the body shop which includes mechanics and reconditioning workers as volume fluctuates

- Monitor cars being pulled and stored in the correct rows

- Monitor cars being registered correctly in a timely manner

- Monitor car Photos and cleanliness meet quality control

- Generate and submit daily operational reports to upper management

2. Weekly Responsibilities

- Handle all Arbitrations as a result of Post Sale Inspection/issues in a timely manner

- Reduce Buybacks by ensuring quality inspections, apply critical thinking, and mediate the buying and selling of all vehicles.

- Coordination and deliver of Auction Planning for a smooth execution

- Work with the office to perform all Condition Reports in a timely manner

3. Business Management

- Hire, Lead, Train and Develop staff for operations

- Coordinate with the Bodyshop and Registration for a lean operation

- Manage Inventory and Exiting process

- Communicate with Sellers to ensure that services are being provided to their expectations

- Ensure all supplies are ordered for various departments

- Monitor Invoices and Bills are being received and paid on time

- Maintain the facility and yard

- Develop training programs on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices for employees at all levels

4. Technical Skills

- Negotiate and influence customers to solve arbitration problems

- Strong understanding an adhering to the National Auto Auction Associate (NAAA) Arbitration Rules

- Background in Mechanics and can provide assistance with Condition Reports as needed

- Inspect condition reports and vehicle to maximize value.

- Understanding of OSHA and waste management

Qualifications:

-Minimum 5 years in an Automotive Repair Shop or similar field

-Minimum 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience

Preferred:

Understanding of NAAA arbitration rules

Claim adjuster experience is a plus.
