Summary of Job Duties:Basic Functions
The Simulation Nursing Faculty member plans, implements, and evaluates simulation and nursing laboratory experiences that support student learning, clinical judgment, and achievement of program outcomes. This position collaborates with faculty, the Simulation Coordinator, and administration to ensure simulation and lab activities align with regulatory standards, curriculum requirements, and best practices in nursing education.

Position Duties

75% - Simulation and Laboratory Instruction
Plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality simulation experiences that promote clinical judgment, critical thinking, and achievement of program learning outcomes while meeting applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

*Develop, present, evaluate, and refine simulation scenarios using role-playing, props, and dialogue to create realistic learning environments.
*Develop and implement clinical simulation experiences aligned with NCSBN, ASBN, INACSL, and other applicable accreditation standards.
*Create an intellectual environment that promotes critical thinking, reflective learning, and student-centered instruction.
*Use appropriate evaluation and measurement techniques to assess teaching effectiveness and student performance.
*Develop and implement nursing skills laboratory experiences in coordination with nursing faculty.
*Select and maintain appropriate clinical and laboratory learning environments, including skills check-offs.
*Post weekly coursework and learning materials prior to the scheduled content week.

15% - Simulation and Lab Operations, Oversight, and Compliance
Oversee daily simulation and skills lab operations to ensure safe, efficient use of resources, compliance with policies and safety standards, and effective support for faculty and students. Analyze data and participate in short- and long-term planning to assess effectiveness of simulation and skills lab experiences and guide continuous improvement efforts.

*Monitor all simulation and nursing lab policies, procedures, usage, and operations.
*Ensure a safe and healthy work environment and compliance with college health and safety policies and occupational health and safety regulations.
*Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, the Simulation Coordinator, and IT for equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement.
*Keep simulation and lab equipment and resources up to date.
*Orient simulation facilitators in lab procedures, materials, and equipment operation.
*Serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom and lab activities.
*Perform data analysis to evaluate student learning outcomes and satisfaction with simulation and lab experiences.
*Facilitate short- and long-term planning and assessment activities in collaboration with the Simulation Coordinator, faculty, program directors, and the dean.
*Continuously refine simulation and skills lab experiences based on assessment findings and identified needs.

5% - Professional Practice and Development
Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice and nursing education, participate in professional development activities, demonstrate and encourage high standards of professional nursing practice, and model professionalism in all academic and clinical settings.

*Remaining current with trends in nursing education and nursing practice.
*Maintaining expertise through participation in professional development.

5% - Institutional Service and Collaboration
Participate in faculty meetings, committee assignments, and shared governance activities; collaborate as part of a team-based faculty approach; assist with budgeting processes and renewal of clinical affiliation agreements as assigned; and support departmental and college initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge
*Principles and practices of clinical nursing education and simulation-based learning within a community college setting, including scenario design, facilitation, and debriefing methodologies.
*Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) Rules and Regulations, including ASBN Rule Part 125 Standards for Nursing Education Programs (formerly Chapter 6), as they relate to nursing program approval, faculty roles, clinical instruction, and simulation use.
*Federal, state, and institutional policies affecting nursing education and clinical supervision (e.g., FERPA, ADA/Section 504).
*Evidence-based strategies to support student learning, clinical skill development, clinical judgment, and successful progression in nursing programs.
*Use of approved evaluation tools, documentation, and performance data to assess student learning, simulation outcomes, and clinical competencies.
*Current clinical practices, evidence-based nursing care, and simulation technologies utilized in healthcare and nursing education settings.
*Use of institutional research, data analysis, and performance metrics to support planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement of simulation and lab activities.
*Current technologies supporting teaching, learning, simulation operations, and academic functions.
*Workforce development initiatives, transfer pathways, dual enrollment opportunities, and community partnerships that support nursing education.

Skills
*Effective classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction that supports student learning and achievement of course and program outcomes.
*Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to interact professionally with students, faculty, clinical staff, and administrators.
*Ability to provide timely, constructive feedback, manage student concerns, and promote professional behavior, accountability, and academic integrity.
* Ability to use technology efficiently to manage schedules, maintain accurate records, analyze data, and communicate professionally with students, faculty, and administrative staff.

Abilities
*Teach, supervise, and evaluate students in theory, lab, and clinical settings while maintaining patient safety and adherence to scope of practice
*Collaborate effectively with faculty and clinical partners as part of a team-based approach to nursing education.
*Adapt instructional strategies to diverse learning environments, delivery modalities (online and traditional), and evolving program or regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Qualifications
  • RN; Must hold a valid, unencumbered license with privilege to practice in Arkansas.

  • Two or more years' experience in clinical nursing

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelorof Science in Nursing or higher.

  • Experience in the academic settingpreferred.

  • Knowledgeof andexperience withaccreditation bodies.
