Continuation past the termlengthdiscussed willbebasedonuniversityneed,performance,and/oravailabilityoffunding.POSITION SPECIFICS A postdoctoral position is available in the research labs of Dr. Tim Miyashiro and Dr. Emily Weinert within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University. The Miyashiro lab investigates mechanisms of bacterial colonization of hosts using the squid-Vibrio model system using a range of techniques including animal studies, genomics, and molecular biology. The Weinert lab conducts research into the mechanisms of bacterial environmental sensing and signaling using techniques from chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Time will be split as 60% in Miyashiro lab and 40% in Weinert lab, with expectations to interact with both labs throughout the appointment. Responsibilities will include providing intellectual leadership in experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results. This person will also assist with writing publications and assuring scientific rigor, consistency, and record keeping within the lab, and is expected to participate in all aspects of the lab. Candidates must have a background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including protein identification, quantitation, and thermal proteome profiling, and in mass spectrometry-based targeted and untargeted metabolomics. A Ph.D. is required by the appointment date. In addition, the candidate should have experience with biochemical assays assessing biomolecular interactions.
