Job Summary Provide Clinical Medical Physicist services for the Radiation Oncology Department including Quality Management Program; Radiation Safety; Service liaison for radiation oncology equipment; Ongoing Clinical management; Specification/Planning for new equipment and procedures. Responsibilities And Scope
- Implement and oversee a comprehensive Quality Management Program for all equipment, software and processes related to the use of Radiation Therapy in the Cancer Center.
- Implement and oversee the Radiation Safety Program for patients,staffand visitors in the Cancer Center in compliance with all applicable regulations of the NC Division of Radiation Protection; Serve as department Radiation Safety Officer; andmaintainLicenses and Regulations for radiation producing equipment and sources within the department.
- Provide clinical management support for patients, including patient chart checks and calculation verifications. Provide consultation as needed for Physicians. Oversee Treatment Planning procedures and parametersutilizedfor calculations. Serve asresourcefor staff,patientsand visitors to address any concernsregardingthe clinical use of radiation.
- Serve asliaisonwith service engineers for issues related to radiation equipment in the department. Ensure all equipment is safe for clinical use after service; repair; upgrades, etc.
- Serve as lead for Radiation Oncology equipment projects including vendor selection; equipment procurement; capital budgeting and forecasting; and project management
- Serve asongoinglead for APEX Accreditation and implementation of the RO-ILS patient safety reporting system (Radiation Oncology-Incident Learning System).
- Participate inCancerCenter LeadershipTeam;CancerCommittee;Tumor Conferences and Department QI Committee.
Qualifications Required
- Master's Degree or PhD in Medical Physics,Physicsor related field
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics (or Board eligible)
- 1 - 3 years of clinical experience
- Strong communication; teamwork and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Master's Degree or PhD in Medical Physics
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics
- 7+ years of clinical experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Experience with Accreditation process (Apex or ACR)
- Experience with RO-ILS (Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System)
- Proven communication; teamwork and problem-solving skills
