Reporting to the Sr. Director of Total Rewards, the Director of Compensation provides strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and management of innovative compensation programs for an electric utility organization within a shared services environment. This leadership role is responsible for shaping the organization's compensation philosophy and strategy to drive business success, attract top talent, and foster employee retention and engagement. As a trusted advisor to HR leadership, finance, and executive management, the Director serves as the organization's subject matter expert on all aspects of compensation, ensuring programs are competitive, equitable, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. This role includes oversight of executive compensation, incentive design, and pay equity analysis, as well as ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Director leads cross-functional initiatives, drives continuous improvement, and plays a critical role in shaping workforce strategies through data-driven insights and collaboration. As a key leader, this position has direct accountability for influencing decision-making at the highest levels of the organization, contributing to long-term strategic planning, and ensuring the alignment of compensation practices with the organization's mission and values. 25%Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in shaping and executing a forward-thinking compensation strategy that drives organizational performance, attracts top talent, and aligns with industry-leading practices. Serve as a key architect of the organization's total rewards philosophy, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives. Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of base pay, incentive plans, executive compensation, and special pay programs. Monitor compensation trends and conduct market analyses to ensure the organization's compensation programs and practices remain competitive. Provide expert-level compensation consulting to organizational leadership to align pay strategies with workforce needs and business outcomes. 30%Program Oversight and Governance: Lead the development and governance of the organization's compensation framework, including salary structures, pay grades, and job evaluation methodologies, to ensure equity, competitiveness, and scalability. Establish and enforce governance protocols to maintain consistency across compensation practices. Oversee the annual compensation processes, including merit increases, promotions, and incentive allocations, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals and organizational priorities. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, state wage laws) and oversee the development and implementation of compensation policies and procedures. Build a culture of knowledge retention by documenting processes, creating guidelines, and mentoring team members. 25% Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business unit leaders, delivering tailored compensation solutions that address workforce needs and drive business outcomes. Collaborate with HR, finance, and legal teams to align compensation programs with the organization's financial and operational goals. Partner with HR leadership to ensure compensation strategies effectively support talent acquisition, retention, and engagement efforts. Provide guidance, education, and training to HR business partners and managers to strengthen organizational understanding of compensation programs and policies. 15%Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize advanced analytics to assess the effectiveness of compensation programs, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership. Oversee the development of compensation dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Prepare comprehensive materials and analysis for presentation to the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors and other executive-level audiences as needed. 5%Process Improvement & Technology: Evaluate and recommend technology solutions to streamline compensation management processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Drive continuous process improvements to enhance the transparency, effectiveness, and employee experience of compensation programs. Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices to keep the organization's compensation processes at the forefront of innovation. *Skills* Compensation analysis, benefits administration, flsa, ofccp, utility industry, infor, lawson human resources suite, ccp *Top Skills Details* Compensation analysis,benefits administration,flsa,ofccp *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Human Resources, or a related field is preferred. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is strongly preferred. Utility Experience Experience with Infor/Lawson Experience working in a shared services, large enterprise, or multi-business unit environment is strongly preferred- this person is supporting 2 other operating companies.
