Job Description

Elwyn seeks an Electrician.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, tests, and repairs secondary high voltage building panels and disconnects; calculates electrical equipment and system requirements.
  • Install conduit, conductors, junction boxes, disconnects, receptacles, switches, and light systems.
  • Repair motors, starters, pumps, and electrical aspects of chillers, boilers, fans, and related heating and cooling equipment.
  • Tests safety equipment, exit and emergency lighting.
  • Replace ballast's.
  • Install and repair coax cables for computer systems, microprocessors, data communications devices, and similar electronic systems.
  • Inspect electrical installations insuring work is completed in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
  • Read and follow electrical blueprints, circuit diagrams, and schematics.
  • Use specialized testing equipment such as ohmmeters, VTVM, VOM, amp meter, and Megger.
  • Conducts electrical preventive maintenance including inspection, testing, cleaning, and lubricating equipment and systems.
  • Complete work orders and keep track of maintenance logs.
  • Maintain and review catalog and product bulletins for equipment improvements; develop specifications and prepares requisitions for equipment and supplies; estimates time and materials for jobs.
  • Supervise and train others in the installation and repair of electrical systems; ensure quality control standards are met for electrical services.
  • Assists other maintenance and crafts staff performing their duties.
  • Responds to emergency call-back.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance on building devices and systems; operates equipment used in building maintenance and repair.
  • Assures all work orders are completed with all labor and material.

  • Ensures that routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules and standards.
  • Assures all work is completed in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Document all work in the CMMS system.
  • Follow and Enforces all safety and risk management policies and procedures; reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work conditions with management oversight.
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Job Qualifications:

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician in accordance with State and Local authorities
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, demonstrating deep knowledge of building codes, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Valid Driver License, CDL is a plus.
  • Must pass a background check, drug test, driver's license review and FBI Fingerprint check. Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record
  • Some positions may require the ability to demonstrate successful completion of both a physical exam, including cardiopulmonary function testing and chest x-ray, and a respirator fit test.
  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Participate in the "On-call" rotation.
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Experienced Installing, operating, repairing, and maintaining industrial electrical systems and equipment including conductor size for loads, amps, and voltage.
  • Can operate specialized electrical testing equipment.
  • Interpreting industrial-type electrical circuit diagrams and blueprints.
  • Using and maintaining hand and power tools normally used in electrical and electronics equipment repair.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, schedule and execute work assignments.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare reports such as cost estimates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact and maintain working relationships and collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge and skill in computer applications and related programs in support of business activities.
  • Experience in using and maintaining specialized tools and equipment associated with trades.
  • Reading blueprints and schematics.
