Loan Servicing Operations-Associate Subject Matter Expert (SME) Location: Onsite Security Requirement: Background Investigation (MBI/NACIC) Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an Associate Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a potential opportunity supporting the USDA Rural Development Servicing Office. This role supports high-volume loan servicing operations within a mission-driven federal environment that directly impacts rural communities across the country. The USDA Rural Development Servicing Office oversees mortgage servicing, bankruptcy processing, financial transactions, loss claims, mail operations, and imaging support. The Associate SME plays a key role in ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across these functions. Position Overview The Associate SME provides department-level oversight within one or more servicing functions, ensuring operational quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient process execution. This position blends leadership, technical expertise, and quality assurance in a structured, compliance-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor and oversee assigned functional areas (loan servicing, bankruptcy, accounting, imaging, or mail operations) Conduct quality sampling reviews to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance Provide training, mentoring, and operational guidance to staff Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities Support compliance reviews, audits, and reporting requirements Promote consistency, efficiency, and adherence to established procedures Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of management experience in loan servicing Demonstrated operational expertise in at least one specialty area: Loan servicing Bankruptcy processing Financial/accounting operations Imaging/document management Mail operations Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Comfortable working in structured, compliance-focused environments U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Ability to successfully pass a background investigation (MBI/NACIC) Ideal Candidate Profile Successful candidates will demonstrate: Exceptional attention to detail A clean professional and financial background Ability to manage repetitive, compliance-focused tasks with accuracy Strong analytical and organizational skills A collaborative leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement Why You'll Love This Role: Make a Meaningful Impact Your work directly supports USDA Rural Development programs that strengthen rural communities nationwide.
