Software Engineering Manager

Software Engineering Manager – (Employer is GeneDx, LLC) – Responsible for planning, estimating, and executing IT projects. Manage a team of software engineers, fostering growth and career development. Ensure code quality through reviews, best practices, and technical mentoring. Set clear goals and performance expectations, and conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews. Guide architectural and design decisions across various IT projects. Establish and improve engineering processes (agile, CI/CD, testing, documentation). Measure and improve team productivity and software performance. Collaborate with Product, Operations and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features on time. Proactively identify risks and remove blockers to ensure smooth delivery of IT projects. Promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture. Hire, onboard, and retain top IT talent. Align team work with broader business goals and product roadmaps. Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to drive innovation. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or in a related role. All of the required experience must have included experience with: software engineering management including planning, scheduling, and executing software projects, from initial requirements to final deployment; designing and leading complex technical initiatives, identifying risks, and incorporating emerging technologies to drive innovation and long-term roadmap progress; system architecture, design patterns, and scalable software development; cloud platforms; DevOps practices; programming languages such as Java, TypeScript and Python; microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven systems; security, compliance, and software quality standards; leading IT teams to achieve strategic objectives; influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and promoting industry best practices; and agile methodologies.
