Responsibilities
Position Summary: Responsible for the overall planning, development, and implementation of donor recruitment for Community Blood Centers (CBC). Provides leadership for the Donor Recruitment team, including but not limited to, Managers, Supervisors and Account Managers. A key responsibility of this position is to develop strategic plans that allow for the growth and expansion throughout the mobile operations for the division. This position is responsible for projection accuracy goals, productivity measures, and donor engagement goals. This position must also work collaboratively with the Director and Managers of Collections for CBC to optimize mobile collections with primary focus on engaging youth, first time, and all mobile donors. This position has laser focus on achieving and exceeding annual collection goals and setting the strategic direction of the department through the development of attainable yet challenging territory blood collection goals. Supervision Exercised: This position does supervise staff. Supervision of Positions: Under general supervision of assigned managerial staff Primary Duties, Responsibilities or Activities Required by Job:
Leadership - Provide leadership and guidance to the Managers in Donor Recruitment who oversee daily operations of the donor recruitment department, including Account Management.
- Develops annual and long-term strategic plans that deliver opportunities for sustained growth.
- People- Responsible for hiring, training, motivating, rewarding, and disciplining of Donor Recruitment team members. Completes annual performance evaluations of direct reports.
- General Management- Oversees all administrative aspects of the department. Plans, organizes, and implements strategies which ensure goals are met. These strategies include the education, marketing, promotional and volunteer programs necessary to generate community participation in the blood program.
- Analytical- Using data generated from blood drive software tool, analyzes recruitment, donor management, and volunteer activities and key measures for effectiveness and makes changes to improve performance. Effectively communicates individual and department achievement and challenges.
- Communication- Develops effective intra and inter departmental relationships and communication strategies to achieve NYBC enterprise-wide goals. Works with peers to develop new programs and resolve issues.
- Strategic Partnerships - Partners with the Director, Collections and Technical Operations leaders to implement positive process improvement changes and runs effective and efficient blood drives and donor center operations. As needed, debrief with team members and other leaders on drives that do particularly well, poorly, or as requested by the blood drive sponsor.
- Donor Engagement - Collaborate with the Donor Engagement, Donor Marketing and Donor Outreach teams to execute all activities intended to enhance the donor experience that ensure donors return to next their next blood drive or a donor center.
- Customer Service - Ensure Donor Recruitment team members are fully trained in the best practices of customer service as to reduce the donor pains and maximize the donor delight and gains.
- Collaboration - Oversees the scheduling of blood drives that meet the sponsor's needs while adhering to the Collections team guidelines and employment practices.
- Community - Develops and supports strategic priorities for community relations and media, such as being an active member in the appropriate Chambers of Commerce.
- Regulatory- Ensures all activities take place in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Oversees the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Financial- monitors and manages annual operating budgets.
- May be required to travel within the Enterprise and CBC divisional sites for business needs as necessary.
Other Secondary Functions:
- Regularly attends blood drives to engage with team members and monitor the donor experience.
- Works across other business units and divisions in the Enterprise to develop and incorporate best practices.
- Makes recommendations for improvement of practices in assigned department.
- Attends professional development seminars, conferences and meetings as required.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education & Experience Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Related Experience: At least 7 years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a Health-care setting, similar business or in sales management. Demonstrated ability to manage both supervisor and staff level positions required. Experience with performance management, developing performance improvement plans, and providing mentoring to managers as needed. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the requirements above that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in sales, customer service or customer engagement preferred. Required Licenses / Certification Valid driver's license Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the best practices in sales and marketing.
- Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of computerized software applications such as MS Office.
