About the role

The Head of Applications is accountable for the strategic leadership, delivery, and lifecycle management of enterprise and projectdelivery applications, providing technical support capabilities for both projects and BAU operations. This includes ERP, CRM, HCM, BI/analytics platforms, projectexecution systems (Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Engineering), and all associated integrations. The role ensures applications are reliable, secure, highperforming, and aligned with business objectives across global operations.

Operating under the Senior Group Director, Digital Operations, the role forms a core pillar within the Digital Operations organisation and works closely with Digital Transformation, Infrastructure & Operations, the Commercial Office, and Digital Architecture & Information Security. A key accountability is providing a seamless interface with Digital Project Delivery, ensuring project execution platforms are fully supported with the right technical expertise and operational capability.

Key responsibilities include

* Define and lead the enterprise and project-delivery applications support strategy, aligned to Digital Operations across Plan/Run/Govern/Risk.

* Govern the full application lifecycle to ensure currency, reliability, standards alignment, and risk control.

* Lead global BAU application support, delivering consistent, high-quality service across all regions.

* Maintain and evolve technical support capability across enterprise platforms, project management, engineering, construction, and supply chain systems.

* Drive continuous service improvement through automation, knowledge management, and optimisation of support processes.

* Provide technical and functional leadership for major transformation initiatives (ERP, HCM, CRM, BI, and project-execution platforms).

* Ensure effective transition from project delivery into BAU with robust support models, documentation, training, and readiness planning.

* Manage application vendors, contracts, and budgets, optimising OPEX and capital spend while ensuring performance and compliance.

* Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency opportunities through application rationalisation, licence optimisation, and operating-model improvements.

* Ensure strong governance, compliance, and risk management across architecture, security, data privacy, release management, and change control.

What you'll bring

* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Systems, or related discipline (master's preferred).

* Extensive experience in enterprise and/or project-delivery applications leadership in a global, complex organisation.

Technical competencies

* Expertise across enterprise (ERP, CRM, HCM, BI) and project-delivery application platforms.

* Strong understanding of integrations, data platforms, APIs, workflow technologies, and cloud-based architectures.

* Deep knowledge of SDLC, DevOps, application security, and governance frameworks.

* Familiarity with engineering and construction industry digital toolsets (preferred).

Leadership & commercial competencies

* Experience leading global, multidisciplinary application teams.

* Strong vendor-management and commercial negotiation skills.

* Proven capability in delivering operational excellence and large-scale transformation programmes.

* Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-engagement skills
