POSITION TITLE

Lab Technician, Fine Chemical Products

POSITION OVERVIEW

This hourly position is part of the Fine Chemicals Business. The role provides chemical laboratory support for the development of new products and applications as well as the support of currently manufactured products.The individual will belocatedat the company headquarter in Spartanburg, SC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Chemical synthesis of new targetmolecules

  • Work with Chemists and/or Engineers andassistin the design and assembly of laboratory andpilot systems

  • Work with Chemists, Engineers, and plant personnel to scale-up projects tocommercialization

  • Detailed record keeping

  • Organization of samples and the overall laboratory

  • Maintain clean and safe work environments

  • Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets and deadlines

  • Organize and effectively communicate results (reports, tables, charts)

  • Promote safety as a general behavior andparticipatefaithfully in all safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • BS degree in Chemistry or related technical field or 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Strong work ethic and good organizational skills

  • Helpful to have experience working in a chemical laboratory setting; including safely handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, andoperatinganalytical equipment

  • Proficient in use of scientific method, critical thinking, and problem solving

  • Ability to follow instructions as well as to work independently

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
