Job Title: Project Engineer I - Environmental Engineer

Salary Range: $65,000- $80,000

Education Requirements: B.S. Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering

Licensure Requirements: EIT or ability to obtain within 1 year

Experience Requirements: 0-5+ Years

Travel Requirements: 10-15%

Short Job Description: The Environmental Engineer will serve as technical support to the engineering team and project managers by developing engineering evaluations, designs and permit applications for the firm's wide array water and environmental projects (drinking water, wastewater and stormwater). This role seeks to utilize and develop independent engineering judgment, direct client and regulator interaction, and to provide support for the development of technical deliverables. The position supports primarily municipal and industrial clients and/or consulting projects involving engineering related to water and natural resources.

Technical Capabilities:



  • Assist in the planning, design and evaluation of environmental systems (water, sewer, stormwater)
  • Assist with the preparation of environmental permit applications
  • Perform engineering calculations and system evaluations
  • Assist with the development of technical memoranda, engineering reports and design documents
  • Conduct data analysis and interpret laboratory and field results
  • Assist with the development of engineering drawings and specifications in coordination with other team members


Physical & Work Environment



  • Combination of office and field work at municipal and active industrial facilities
  • Periodic travel for site assessments, construction support, and regulator meetings
  • Ability to access treatment systems and comply with PPE and safety requirements

Typical Job Tasks:



  • Assist project manages with scope development, budgeting support and project scheduling
  • Track task progress and support internal quality control review
  • Conduct site visits for inspections, sampling and system evaluations
  • Assist in the development of basis of design (BOD) documents, hydraulic and process calculations, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications
  • Support the preparation of capital cost estimates, O&M cost evaluations, and lifecycle cost analyses
